Jeroen Knippenberg

Hand crafted in The Netherlands

Driven by a lifelong passion for food and craftsmanship, Dutch knifemaker Jeroen Knippenberg brings deep technical knowledge and a meticulous approach to the creation of high-performance culinary tools. What began as a personal exploration—building his first knife and cooking a meal for his partner—has since evolved into a professional dedication to making knives that blend precision engineering with thoughtful design.

With a background in Mechanical Engineering (BSc and MSc) from Eindhoven University of Technology, and professional experience in heat and surface treatment technologies, Jeroen operates at the intersection of science and craft. His daily work in metallurgy and advanced heat treatment continues to inform his knifemaking, where rigorous testing, microscopic analysis, and constant refinement shape every blade he produces.

Now, in collaboration with Modern Cooking, Jeroen is turning his focus toward performance-oriented knives that prioritise ergonomics, cutting efficiency, and clean design. This new partnership marks a shift from his more decorative mosaic damascus creations toward knives made from monosteel and composite monosteel-core constructions—materials selected for their durability, edge retention, and real-world kitchen performance.

Though still marked by his signature attention to detail and balance between aesthetics and function, these knives are purpose-built tools: comfortable in hand, precise in performance, and elegant in form. From compound bevel geometries to optimised heat treatment, every aspect is guided by Jeroen’s engineering mindset and relentless curiosity.

Through this partnership, Modern Cooking and Jeroen aim to offer chefs and passionate home cooks knives that are as refined in use as they are in appearance—tools that disappear in the hand and shine on the board.
