Karol karyś

Karol Karyś is a 21-year-old bladesmith from Kraków, Poland. Currently studying Industrial Design at the Kraków Academy of Fine Arts. Like many bladesmiths, Karol stumbled into knife making though a passion for knives. Bushcraft inspired the first knife, but Karol soon discovered that knife making was an excellent expression of his other passions.

Karol’s knives are inspired by brutalist architecture, which is obvious in his mono steel blades. The textures found in the blades and handles can be traced back to examples Karol has discovered in buildings on the streets of Kraków. Brutalist architectures emerged during the 1950s in the United Kingdom and is characterised by minimalist designs that showcase raw materials and structural elements over more ornate decorative designs.

The knives are unique and beautiful to look at, but the performance, fit and finish are also very well done. It is rare to discover such individuality and such high-level craftsmanship, especially from a bladesmith of Karol’s age. We are very excited to have Karol’s work available and look forward to seeing what the future holds for such a talented, young bladesmith.
