Kamon X Wild Deep Etched High Contrast Denty Gyuto 275mm

Perhaps the rarest of all Kamon forged knives. A Damascus!

The blade is forged from an incredible crushed-W ladder Damascus. The Damascus was forged in Bavaria, Germany by Blacksmith Christoph Wild who worked in collaboration with Austrian artisan Benjamin Kamon to produce this beautiful piece.

The 275mm blade is forged in Benjamin’s signature precision geometry, highly tapered from a satisfying thick 6mm+ above the heel of the blade to less than 1mm at the tip. Convex bevels and a razor-sharp cutting edge complete the geometry. This tapered geometry gives Benjamin’s knives the unique sensation of feeling smaller than they are and although this is a 275mm blade it feels much smaller and is very nimble.

Benjamin has paired the stunning crushed-W ladder Damascus with a beautiful stabilised and stained masur birch featuring incredible figure that almost mimics the Damascus pattern. This handles features Benjamin’s heirloom endcaps in titanium, which gives the handle a more classical and subdued style, really letting the Damascus have the stage.

This is truly a beautiful composition, there is a tasteful harmony between the beautiful Damascus that Chris Wild produced and Benjamin Kamon’s treatment of the steel and material choices for the handle.

A wonderful collectible and a true heirloom piece.

Product Care:

Cleaning: Clean by hand with warm water. Avoid wetting the handle when possible.

Sharpening: We advise using whetstones to sharpen your knives and a honing rod or steel to maintain the burr between sharpening sessions.

Reactive Steels: Reactive steels like Aogami Super, Apex Ultra or one of the many premium reactive German and Swedish steels are susceptible to rust if not properly cared for. In this case we advise that you keep the knife dry between uses and when storing the knife for longer periods wiping the knife blade with Tsubaki oil or another food safe oil is a wise choice. This will not stop a patina forming on the blade, but it will stop rust. A patina can be a beautiful personal feature on your knife and helps to stop rust forming. So, dry your knife regularly between uses, store in a dry place and apply some Tsubaki oil from time to time when storing for long periods.

Handle Care: If you have a knife with a non-stabilised wooden handle, you can apply Tsubaki oil or another food safe oil to your handle from time to time. Food safe wax can be applied to both stabilised and no-stabilised wooden handles. Never apply hot wax or oil as you risk warping or damaging the handle.
