Bunka 240mm "Wave" KU Anodized Titanium Frame Forged & Riveted Handle

26.183,00 kr

This piece from Benjamin Kamon is a 100% forged blade and handle. Unlike Benjamin’s Monolithic loop handles this piece features a tempered titanium loop. Arguably a far more challenging piece of forge craft and not only is the handle fully forged, but also the rivet and pin that fasten it to the blade.

Titanium cools rapidly which meaning that each time the material is heated the artisan has a very limited amount of time to shape the material. To make things more challenging this piece features several very intricate elements, like the drifted holes at the bolster and the fully forged rivet and pin that fasten the handle in place. Finally, the handle is flame anodised in vibrant hues of blue and purple.

The blade itself is a 240mm Bunka, which features Benjamin’s “Wave” texture and a Kurouchi or blacksmiths finish. The texture feels organic, as though it formed naturally during the forging process. The bevels feature a perfectly consistent belt finish, which provides a beautiful shimmering contrast to the dark, textured section above.

Black and silver at the blade with blues and purples at the handle. Hand sculpted, ergonomic, striking, razor sharp and bound to develop in beauty with time and use.

Bid on this piece December 23rd to the 27th.

Product Care:

Cleaning: Clean by hand with warm water. Avoid wetting the handle when possible.

Sharpening: We advise using whetstones to sharpen your knives and a honing rod or steel to maintain the burr between sharpening sessions.

Reactive Steels: Reactive steels like Aogami Super, Apex Ultra or one of the many premium reactive German and Swedish steels are susceptible to rust if not properly cared for. In this case we advise that you keep the knife dry between uses and when storing the knife for longer periods wiping the knife blade with Tsubaki oil or another food safe oil is a wise choice. This will not stop a patina forming on the blade, but it will stop rust. A patina can be a beautiful personal feature on your knife and helps to stop rust forming. So, dry your knife regularly between uses, store in a dry place and apply some Tsubaki oil from time to time when storing for long periods.

Handle Care: If you have a knife with a non-stabilised wooden handle, you can apply Tsubaki oil or another food safe oil to your handle from time to time. Food safe wax can be applied to both stabilised and no-stabilised wooden handles. Never apply hot wax or oil as you risk warping or damaging the handle.
