Derrick Wulf

An American-born bladesmith now living in the Bavarian mountain village of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, has been a maker of high-performance kitchen and outdoor cutlery for over twenty years. A member of the American Bladesmith Society, he earned his Journeyman Smith stamp in 2013 and is currently working towards his goal of becoming the first ABS Master Smith in Germany. He is also a local member of the Messerarbeitskreis Olching, and can be often seen demonstrating blade forging techniques at their twice-annual knife shows just outside of Munich.

For his kitchen knives, Derrick prefers high carbon steels, including his own forged damascus and san-mai patterns, and typically selects stabilized wood, or naturally stable woods such as Australian ringed Gidgee for his handles. Derrick’s driving passion is to build knives that not only perform exceptionally well, but also look and feel good in the hands of their owners. He is proud to serve professional and home chefs in both Europe and the United States.

His work has been featured numerous times in Blade Magazine, Messer Magazine, and the Knives annual book series. He also exhibits his work each year at the Solingen Knife show and the aforementioned Messertage in Olching.
