Togashi Kenji is a highly experienced blacksmith, famous for his traditional honyaki construction technique. His knives use a mono steel construction which is then differentially hardened. This means the edge is harder than the spine. The wave line, or hamon, seen on the blade face is an indication that the blade has been hardened in this way. Honyaki knives are some of the most challenging knives to forge.
Togashi Kenji is a member of the Sakai Takayuki collective, a group of artisan blacksmiths, knife sharpeners and other skilled craftsman that have over 600-years of tradition and history to support their reputation as a leading artisan knife producer.
