Having completed his training under the legendary blacksmiths at Masamoto Sohonten Master Hanaki Toukichi established Sukenari in 1933. Sukenari quickly became famous for their amazing Honyaki knives. Honyaki are considered one of the most complicated and challenging knives to produce, requiring complex, traditional techniques to produce knives that are soft at the spine to promote durability and hard at the edge for extreme sharpness.
Today the team at Sukenari are lead by 3rd generation master blacksmith Mr. Nobuo Hanaki, Sukenari still produce amazing traditional Honyaki blades, but they are continuing the tradition of innovation working with a variety of high tech super steels like HAP40 and ZDP-189. These steel are know for their potential to be extremely hard and very sharp with amazing edge retention.
