Saji Takeshi Gyuto 240mm Black Etched Gold Damascus with Ironwood HandleSaji Takeshi
Perhaps one of Japans most respected blacksmiths, Saji Takeshi has been forging knives for over 30 years. Saji san has one of the most recognizable profiles in Japan today. Deeply inspired by tradition hunting knives, a Saji Takeshi knife features aggressive geometry laser thin profiles and premium cutting performance.
Saji san’s designs are some of the most unique around, often combining various steels and metals to create beautiful pattern Damascus, which is used to clad his knives. At the core you will find premium steels like VG10, Aogami Super, R2 and other high-performance steels.
This particular series really caught our attention. The VG10 Gold Damascus is produced with a combination of soft stainless steel, copper and nickel. The wave like layers and the golden spheres are a striking pattern and the red, yellow and brown hues of the American desert ironwood make for a beautiful pairing.
At the age of 74 Saji Takeshi is a true gem in an industry full of very talented craftsman. To own a Saji Takeshi knife is to own a piece of Japanese knife making history.
