Kato Hamono

The Kato Hamono was founded by Hiroshi Kato a founding member of the Takefu knife village in Echizen, Japan. Widely acknowledged as one of the best master blacksmiths of his generation. Hiroshi developed a reputation throughout Japan for producing sharp, well balance and easy to use knives. In recent years Hiroshi has retired passing on responsibility for the Hamono to his son Yoshimi Kato.

Aside from training under his father Yoshimi also trained alongside another well known young master, Yu Kurosaki, at the Kanehiro Hamono. Yoshimi Kato is now considered a master in his own right and continues to maintain the reputation that his father developed. The knives Yoshimi produces continue to impress and show no noticeable loss in quality.
