This Karol Karyś Gyuto was aucitoned off on our Instagram account to raise money for children who have been harmed or displaced as a result of the conflict in the Ukraine.
The linear texture on this Karol Karyś Gyuto 215mm was discovered on the streets of Kraków an example of Karol's passion for the brutalist design that is present in all of his knives. This piece has been produced by Karol to raise money to support Ukrainian children who have been affected or harmed as a result of the war in the Ukraine. All proceeds from the sale of this knife will be donated to the Voices of Children Charitable Foundation.
This 215mm Gyuto features a differentially hardened (Honyaki) blade with a "Linear" textured hamon. The result is a stunning array of contrasting textures and shades of grey and black. Karol's Gyuto profile features an oversized honesuke style shape with a very large flat section extending from the heel about two thirds of the length of the blade before gradually curving up towards the tip. This profile will excel at chopping and slicing.
The blade extends out of a bespoke burgundy and forest green dyed and stabilised maple handle, which is paired with a uniquely textured bolster, in this case it’s a brass bolster with a pitted texture, reminiscent of raw concrete and another example of the brutalist design that inspires these knives.
Stunning to behold, the knife performs beautifully in every way. A very thin and perfectly convexed blade. Highly polished and perfectly finished. An undeniably beautiful knife for an undeniably good cause.
